Life Coach

Receiving coaching is both a very beneficial and enjoyable process that is personal, interactive, relational, and dynamic. Coaching is different from consultation and psychotherapy in that it is more concerned with values, developing priorities, formulating goals, and working towards specific goals rather than with addressing or solving personal or psychological problems.  In coaching we will focus on both your personal and work related values and goals.

Many coaches are not psychologists and  therefore cannot address psychological issues.  With a psychologist providing coaching, and one who also addresses spiritual issues, we have the unique opportunity to look at goals and capabilities  from both  psychological and spiritual  perspectives and to use those understandings to facilitate a  broad range of growth.

I am not certified by the International Coach Federation, but am a licensed psychologist in Oregon, California (inactive status), and Washington (inactive status).

Consultation

I provide consultation that includes a psychological perspective.  Topics addressed  include identity, self esteem, personality and character development, personal relationships, communication skills, decision-making, career goals, work related issues and concerns, and the development of effectiveness, focus, and clarity.  We can also address your spiritual interests, practice, development, mindfulness, and meditation.  Consultation can be a very exciting and rewarding endeavor.  I will look forward to developing a relationship and working with you.

Consultation provides the protection of privacy as well as freedom from some of the restrictions of the psychotherapeutic model.   One  primary difference between consultation and psychotherapy is that with consultation insurance is not used.

Executive Coaching

Coaching differs from consultation and psychotherapy in that it focuses on defining values, establishing goals, developing priorities, and working towards specific goals. Many coaches are not psychologists, and cannot address psychological issues. With a psychologist providing executive coaching, and one who also addresses religious and spiritual issues, we have the unique opportunity to look at goals and capabilities from both psychological and spiritual perspectives and to use those understandings to facilitate a more broad range of growth. With executive coaching we will particularly focus on both the personal and work related concerns of the executive.
